History
On Saturday, August 9, 2008, a group of Pastors met after being called together by Reverend Lundy Savage of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Champaign, Illinois to organize a new district association. Those present were Reverends T.J. Jackson Jr., Don Russell, C.D. Stuart, Claude Shelby Sr., Lucius Barber, Cyprus Hughes and LUndy Savage.
The rationale and reason for a new district was to bring together churches that are close. “Close”; to carry on the work of the Church.
After much discussion, it was moved by Reverend C.D. Stuart and seconded by Reverend T.J. Jackson Jr. to organize the Fellowship Baptist District Association. The motion carried. The Pastors also voted the Reverend Lundy Savage as moderator. Rev. Savage passed away on February 15, 2011 and Rev. Rickey Parks was voted in as moderator in 2012 and still holds the position as of 2014.
